Pixie and Pirate Themed Birthday Party

I recently had the opportunity to style a joint birthday… The party included both boys and girls we chose a pixie and pirate theme to make sure all guest felt included My color palette was hot pink, black and silver and I tried to create a balance between boy and girl by making sure that for every pink/girl element I included a complimentary black/boy element.  I love the way it turned out.

I fell in love with the fabric runner… It helped me decide on the silver/black portion of the color scheme- it looked fantastic with the hot pink tablecloth.

I have already thrown a pirate, and a fairy party so I was able to recycle all the elements of the table, the drift wood was from my garden.

The Candy buffet was my favorite part. It featured pink, lime and black candies with fun names to capture the theme….

Gum balls became cannonballs….

Ring Pops were Pirate Loot,

Pop rocks were magic rocks,

and no pixie party is complete with out pixie sticks

My favorite element was the fun dip turned to magic wishing dust….

To make the wishing dust jars I recycled baby food jars. I attached 2″ “make a wish” printable circles to the lids and finished the edge with jute. I filled the jars with fun dip and instructed kids to “make a wish” as they ate.

I used simply vanilla and butter cream cupcakes topped with my hand glittered cupcake toppers. {available in the shoppe}

I love to create custom cupcake stands as a big feature on the table. This one was extremely simple to create, I used a round cake board that was slightly larger than my cake stand. Using my cropodile I punched holes around the entire rim of the cake board. I cut short lengths of tulle and tied them through the hole, as you would a tutu.

I finished the table by scattering pearls and gems over the entire table top to tie in the pirate theme.

The party was scheduled for after lunch {a huge budget saver} so food was kept to snacks; pirate booty, goldfish and fruit skewers.

Easy snacks look amazing when placed in cute jars with labels….

Kids played a variety of traditional party games. By changing the title of the game I was able to stay in theme…. “Cannon ball toss”- kids tossed black water balloons at targets I created. “Walk the plank”- I used a 2×4 plank for kids to walk across. “Pixie ring toss”- I used flower coat hooks as the target to toss rings. No pirate themed party is complete with out a “scavenger hunt”- I used simple clues through out the garden which led to the kids favor bags and a special treat of root beer floats

Root beer floats in frappucinno bottles (I used strawberry ice cream to tie in the theme- but as you can see it did not make a difference in the color)

Favor bags included candy collected from the buffet, pirate hats/crowns and pirate swords/fairy wands (fairy wand tutorial coming soon!)

The entire collection of paper goods are available in the shoppe as both a DIY printable and a fully assembled and glittered product.

the collection includes; invitation, banner, welcome sign, fancy labels, favor tags, cupcake toppers, thank you notes and drink wraps
